A Labyrinth in Edinburgh

The Edinburgh Labyrinth is at the Univeristy of Edinburgh in the George Square Gardens.

A modest entrance begins the experience.

The Edinburgh Labyrinth is a replica of the medieval labyrinth in Chartres Cathedral in France.

Slowly walking the simple path puts distance between the immediate moment and all that is around you.

It takes about 20 minutes to wind into and away from the center of the labyrinth.

As the moments go by, small things along the path become become delightful adventures.

The sense of scale inverts. That which seemed small becomes important.

That which seemed important becomes distant and small.

There’s a comforting feeling of being in the present.

That cares are put aside with no harm done.

Almost suddenly the path from the entrance becomes the exit.

For a moment, the world seems dark in comparison.

There’s a finger labyrinth too.
